Meet the founders

Former crane operator Paul Briggs and his partner Victoria Smith, who is well-known in the psychic community, are the creative masterminds behind Dark Foundry No 8.

A few years ago, Paul’s curiosity was piqued by a candle-making kit he received for his birthday from his sister-in-law, along with a fun candle making course gifted to him by Victoria. After plenty of experimentation, Dark Foundry No 8 was born. Together with their creative artwork designer Rymmel McIntosh, they brought their vision to life.

A bit about Dark Foundry No 8

The luxury home fragrances and candle company Dark Foundry No 8 offers a unique range of hand-crafted candles inspired by the rich heritage and vibrant surroundings of Birmingham.

One of their standout collections, the “Anchor” range, draws from local landmarks and cultural influences—combining artistry and community spirit in every candle.

Their striking “I AM” candle range on the other hand evokes a deep connection to the spiritual world with captivating scents to sooth your mind. This candle range will be showcased at the Mind Body Spirit Festival at the NEC in Birmingham on November 15th 2024.

How did Label Solutions help?

When it came time to create labels that matched the luxury and personality of their candles, they wanted something bold and premium, with metallic finishes and an embossed logo to make a statement. That’s where the Label Solutions team came in!

We worked closely with Paul to refine the original label design, helping with everything from artwork tweaks to selecting the perfect label material. After experimenting with different colours and textures, we landed on the ideal combo: a silver polypropylene label with a high build varnish for the perfect contrast.

The final result? A gorgeous matte background with glossy accents that really made the design pop! Paul loved the outcome so much; he immediately placed a second order for their Christmas collection.
